Forum sponsored activity in-game

I was thinking about this as I noticed the description on the Posse Tournament sub section of multiplayer.

I don't know that the forum has ever sponsored an in game event. Now would be a good a time as any to start. Yesterday the devs sponsored an event that was packed beyond capacity so there's certainly still demand for rdr events if they're structured and promoted properly.  We've got active members from all the major groups in Red Dead, even if its a free for all or non posse based gang match it would do allot to increase activity on the site if we started creating content to both increase unique visitors and increase return visits.

IMO a forum sponsored in game event would be very easy to set up and would bring some vitality to the place and even pull people back into the game who have it sitting on the shelf, yadda yadda... Et cetera, et cetera ... Ad naseum as to why I think my own idea is a good one.

I really like this idea. It was a blast to catch those Rockstar matches yesterday and running into German Scientist! I think it would be fun to play with more peeps from here.

I love the idea but I'm just a little curious. What exactly do you mean by "sponsored"? Just as in the site sets up a specific date and advertises it?

Exactly.  Just  arranged / advertised on the forum and set up by the forum staff.  I've seen dozens of variations of events over time. 

• People have done bracketed, sudden death, 1v1 "best player" showdowns
• All manners of free roam events all the way from silly to competitive like land grab to role playing events like American Army vs. Mexican Army
• PVP events of all varieties from randomly paired teams to pre-arranged 2v2 and 4v4 matches and so on
• etc, etc, etc

Another idea for ya, Val.
If there comes to be lots of people, you can set aside some "Moderators" who could host each gametype if there were that many people.

This is a great idea and would definitely help promote activity.

I think a reincarnation of Brisbanes idea a while ago would be great. Anyone want to host that? Ill make a thread if no one else wants to.
