is the map really too small?
« on: January 25, 2012, 09:33:02 am »
i just rode across the map, from the entrance to nosilida to the band stand in blackwater. i set the waypoint and galloped the black horse.  i didnt use any horse pills or apples.  it took me just over 10 minutes.

that is a big map.

it would have taken me longer if i had...
stopped the excaped convicts near escalera
killed the wolves attacking the guy near plain view
stopped for the would-be horse thief just outside armadilo
helped the lost traveler near thieves landing.

i set off from nosalida at 2am.  as i rode up onto the great plain from thieves landing i saw a great sunrise.

I think the map's fine.

Could be a few more gang shootout places though. But hey, maybes these are available in a DLC, I've never bought any so I don't know...
Might be in Undead Nightmare too, but I don't like zombies so I'm not getting that

the map is pretty large, it seems smaller if you just follow the road but any off road areas make up for what seems like a small area.

A few more shootout places? Nah. I think you have problem memorising the map. I have nearly remembered it.

I could be wrong but is Mexico, New Austin, West Eli etc. They're only a few areas aren't they? So it's not like the HOLE OF AMERICA or the HOLE OF MEXICO.

I think it's correct that's why John's house is in Blackwater (away from other counties his been in as the storyline says) and then all a sudden Williamson & Dutch slowly made their way's over to that area of America and etc?

Or is that wrong? ON TOPIC - if it's correct then the map suits me fine, if not and they based it on the HOLE of the USA & MEXICO then it's a little strange and small yes.
Wish I knew how to put avators. Why mee gee so hard.

It's only a part of America, and all of it is fictional. None of these places actually existed.

You think the map is too small? I think you have mental problems.

I think the map is to small. Maybe because I expected it to be at the same size as the ingame map. This is not the case. It looks huge, but is a lot smaller. This kinda dissapointed me.

I downloaded the ffree DLC pack with more shootout places, but they never seem to occur

I'm sure that's only for online? MP? OR is that what you're talking about? Not SP?

@ Cyper: which "ingame map" do you mean? As for the extra DLC content: you need to select those maps in order to play them ;) hit the select button in MP and scroll down.

The map is more than ample for me. Sure the areas can change quite abruptly at high speed but if you travel at a steady trot the map will feel larger because it takes longer to travel. Going slower also gives more time for events to occur or for animals to spawn and thus gives one a sense that a lot more is goung on in a small space.
I've got a barrel that's blue and cold,   that ain't good for nothin' but put a man six feet in a hole.
