Can't EVER get into multiplayer??

I just bought the game a few days ago, and I can't get into multiplayer.  It tells me 3-4 times that I can't connect to other players in free roam, and then freezes my whole system.  I have a great connection, and have ZERO problems in any other online games.  What is the deal?  I either need to be able to play, or I need a refund, because the game isn't working.  I would prefer to be able to play.  Does anyone know how to fix it?

What a lame time for R* to have problems with the game,  right after the holiday sale on XBL.   BTW, my NAT type is always open.

Your NAT type is open you say, but whay NAT type do you have? I believe it's NAT3 that can cause a problem.
