New DLC concept
« on: May 09, 2011, 11:19:17 am »
Ok, so there was a recent thread in which FalloutRDR mentioned aliens in a new RDR DLC. I for one love the idea and in the space of 10 mins had a whole story ready, which Im sure will be very controversial!

Spoiler for Hiden:
The DLC would involve Jack after John and Abigail's death. He has hunted down and killed ross already, and is now getting on with his future.
You begin with a cutscene in Armadillo. Cut to Just outside the town, we hear strange noises, things scuttling about the brush. Then in the town proper, A group of strange-looking men who seem to be emitting a neon glow ride in, and meet with the local Marshall (new Marshall, as we know the old one retires). The Marshall asks where they are from, and their leader replies in a strange voice, 'far away, marshall. far away.'
Now we see Jack arrive, ride past the gang who stare at him emotionlessly. He shakes his head and says, 'Could folk in this town get any queerer?'
As you enter the bar you are greeted by a working girl who is actually Jack's fiance. Mushy scene to show Jack plans to marry her so she can stop being a whore. jack goes upstairs to his room to get showered. While he is gone his woman wanders outside with the desert with one of her friends, drunk on love. They fall afoul of something terrifying, but unseen, and cut to black.
Inside the saloon Jack looks for his fiance, then hears her scream. He runs out to find her, only to discover she has vanished completely. Witnesses say she was dragged off. Jack mounts up.
You give chase, but the bandit who kidnapped her seems to be riding an unbelievably quick horse. Your horse tires and you fail to catch him.
Jack is distraught, understandably. The Marshalls now catch up with him and promise to catch the varmint. Jack tells them he was riding some kind of devil steed he had never seen. The Marshall is a skeptic, but his half-witted deputy says 'theres a lotta wierd stuff bin reported round here lately, Marshall!'
Jack is now near the old pleasance house. Stranger mission: bring a young gold prospector some of the yellowish radioactive goop that seems to be collecting on certain plants. If you do this, he will cook up a new tonic that will make you temporarily invulnerable to damage.
Next mission: In order to hunt down Lucia's abductor, you will need to learn more about the strange events happening across New Austin. Return to Armadillo.
You go to the saloon to find West Dickens. He is typically irksome about information, and you must play poker and win him money in order to proceed. one of the poker players seems to have an oddly shaped head and emits a faint neon haze...
When you win poker West Dickens tells you he needs to investigate the cause of the sudden deforestation in Hennigan's Stead. This mission will involve you going to McFarlane's ranch and examining the way trees and plant life seem to have been incinerated in circular shapes. In the town you speak to Bonnie McFarlane, who says cattle keep disappearing and they will be going out to watch the herd tonight. You go with them, and while youre out there a beam of green light appears out of nowhere and sucks a cow up into the sky. The herd are spooked, and you must stop them from running off the cliff. Do so and the mission is complete, but you must collect some of the green slime on the plants left by the beam and take it to West Dickens.
Find West Dickens in Armadillo.
On your way in, the town of armadillo comes under attack from bandits, but they have a strange ghostly pale look about them, lifeless emotionless faces. You must save the town to proceed.
Side-mission: Pick up a map from the marshall's office that lists places where odd reports are coming in. These are placed all over New Austin. At the last one you visit, a heap of twisted metal lies in the desert. You inspect it and find a glowing rod that looks radioactive. Using this will give you incendiary ammunition that explodes enemies in a violent blast of green light.
You meet west dickens, who takes your green slime and says he will need a few days to examine what it might be.
Next Mission: Go to the General Store.
Herbert moon tells you it is a jewish plot, that the black jewish homosexual british catholics are planning to take over this land. He tells you things are real bad in Tumbleweed.!
Along the way you catch glimpses of very strange occurances. vortexes appear out of nowhere and suck NPCs into a black hole then disappear. Travellers stand by the roadside, staring into the distance, transfixed. They are emitting the same neon glow..
In tumbleweed you find Seth running from something unseen and unheard, and seems to be holding his buttocks very tightly. When you stop him he seems terrified, but there doesnt seem to be anything after him. Seth gabbles, making no sense, until you finally had enough and punch him in the face. He comes together, and tells you that there is something hiding in the mansion....
You go into the mansion and hear strange noises coming from the upstairs. You search until you come into the main bedroom which is pitch dark. All you can hear is a rasping, rattling noise. Jack says 'hello? anybody here?' The rasping gets louder, until Jack enters and pulls out his pistol. The moment he does the room is filled with a blinding green light, so bright that Jack cannot see, but for a moment thinks he makes out the shape of a body (your typical close-encounters type of alien body shape)
Jack yells 'where's Lucia!? Where is she?!'
The being disappears, but leaves behind a kind of blue crystal. When you pick it up titles explain that this crystal will glow bright blue when beings like the one you just saw are close. You can use it to track down Lucia's kidnappers.
You use the crystal to lead you to Gaptooth breach hideout. Here you will do battle with a load of the creepy-looking bandits, wipe them out. Every time you kill one they seem to die and then discintegrate.
Killing all of them off, you now hear Lucia's screams coming from inside the mineshaft. You follow inside but find the screams and voice is being imitated by a surviving alien bandit. You demand answers from him, but he just tells you, 'the female has been taken to the next land. you will never find her where they are taking her!'
Jack blows his head off.
Hideout Reward: Zap Gun
Next mission: Talk to Seth and see what he knows.

That will do for now!

Holy hell! Well I wouldn't really want to see Aliens in this Game BUT. On the other hand you have a really good story. Maybe you could send this in?

Basically the new movie Aliens vs. Cowboys but in... *pulls out calculator* 25699301.23 times better.
Dude, this is seriously wicked. (except maybe for the futuristic weapons. I think the challenge would have to be to kill aliens with "cowboy-time" guns.)

You should definitely keep going.

Personally, I would like to see more MP content instead of single player. Like more free roam stuff or more things to do in general in multiplayer like duels. I mean take for example UN. I played it for a while, then after I unlocked everything and finished everything I was stuck with the single player (which I was sort of bored with since I had finished it) and undead over run, which was fun but then got ruined and I hated the new one so I havent played since.

IMO some new single player story like this would be interesting for a bit, but then bore me after a while. I wanna see some multiplayer stuff :) Good story though.

Part II:

Title: Find Seth and see what he knows.
Jack is now at Gaptooth breach after the shootout with the alien bandits.
Stranger Mission (Gaptooth Ridge): A family are gathered outside their house, shouting and cursing at whoever is inside. Jack approaches and the man of house points a shotgun at him, asking if he is 'one of them'. Jack says no, and asks whats locked in there. 'Whaddya think, ya damn fool, its one o them apes from beyond the stars!' If you save the family's home by entering through the doorway, youll find there is nothing inside. you go back outside to see the woman get grabbed by an alien and sucked into a vortex before you can do anything. The husband says 'They got her! They can move through walls!' And he runs off hollering.
Reward for this mission: Ammo
Seth is to be found wandering in the wilderness, this time completely at ease, twirling around and humming a tune as though doped up to the gills. Jack stops him and asks what the thing in the mansion was. Seth dodges his questioning with inane rabble again, until Jack gets fed up once more and almost tramples Seth with the horse. Seth becomes a little more lucid, and eventually tells you the beings, whatever they are, seem to be holed up everywhere the old gangs used to be. (This will unlock gang-hideout style challenges for all the usual hideouts) He says they got serious weaponry, stuff that will blow you to smithereens in a blast of beautiful green light. Jack asks where theyre coming from, and Seth says, ‘Oh, Mexico? I dunno. Ask the snake oil man. He knows. He knows all about it.’ And seth runs off giggling.
Title: Time to find West Dickens.
Challenges now unlocked.
Master Alien Hunter Level 1: Kill six of the unearthly bandits at any gang hideout.
Master Alien Hunter Level 2: Blow up an otherworldly being with any alien weapon.
Master Alien Survivalist 1: Find three plants that have no earthly business in New Austin (these will not be difficult to spot)
Master Alien Survivalist 2: Gather the spores from four Polymorphus Pods
Master Sharpshooter 1: cause an unearthly bandit to disintegrate in one shot (just requires use of the zap-gun and a shot to the head)
Master Sharpshooter 2: Shoot down a flying Rectopod (alien bird)
(other challenges require progression to Mexico)
At this point you can start gang hideouts. As in UN, if you go to Fort Mercer you will find it is no longer a hideout. It has in fact been remilitarised by the US government and troops are pouring in and out of it. When you ask the shady characters guarding the doorway with advanced (but earthly-looking) sniper rifles, you are told that this is simply a training facility. When Jack asks what they know about these freakish happenings, people from other worlds walking across the frontier, they simply say, ‘we don’t know nothing about that, sir. This is just a training facility.’
You have discovered the Government Agent outfit. If unlocked, you will be able to access the newly remilitarised Fort Mercer and learn its secrets. (outfit requirements: take a scrap from a downed government agent, shoot down a rectopod with a sniper rifle, complete the gang hideout in Pike’s Basin. NB: Dead secret agents can only be found after a future mission)
West Dickens is to be found in Rathskeller Fork. He classically seems to have dodged you again, but this time he has come true to his word and produced an elixir with the compound you gave him that when thrown on the ground will cause all otherworldly creatures to become momentarily transfixed by it, giving you a few moments in which to attack without being attacked in return. You question West Dickens on where the aliens are coming from, and he says, oh, well from space my dear boy, had you not realised?’ ‘dont be funny with me, Dick. Where did they land on earth?’ ‘Oh, ahm, I believe it was... Nosalida. No, Escalera. Thats right, youll find the crash site there. Nuevo Paraiso is where you must go, haha! Ahm, but first I could use your help. The truth is the border is not open right now, as fate would have it... the government seem to be clamping down all across this land and theyve built some kind of super-top-secret mission lab in Fort Mercer. I’m confident that if we gain access to this, ah, area, we can find a means of getting you across the river! And, a means of bringing me a, shall we say, a bargaining chip.’
Mission: Ride with West Dickens to Plainview.

Part III

Mission: Ride with West Dickens to Plainview

Along the way you encounter groups of the unearthly bandits that seem hell-bent on killing off west dickens. One of them shoots a fireball of blue-white light into the stagecoach, which Dickens loses control of and it spins into sidewinder gulch, where it crashes.
You now have to defend Dickens from the onslaught of bandits while he attempts to fix the broken wheel. Doing this will mean you can progress to plainview.
Arriving at Plainview, you notice that a few of the government agents from fort Mercer seem to be prowling around the area. There is a heavy military presence and a large area nearby has been closed from view by massive steel fencing. Agents seem to be going in and out of it constantly.
West Dickens approaches the agents guarding the place and speaks to them inaudibly. Meanwhile, something scuttles in the brush, unseen, making strange clicking noises like in the opening cutscene...
Jack wanders around the camp, getting many blank stares from the agents as he passes.
As West Dickens continues to fruitlessly parlay with the agents, the scuttling thing in the brush dashes forward. We see a pair of thin green legs bolt past the camera.
There is an almighty explosion that blows up one of the rigs, and two agents guarding the passage into the mysterious quarantine area are killed by the blast. West Dickens is thrown back and wounded. In the confusion the unknown alien creature scuttles into the quarantine area.
Jack goes to help West Dickens. Just then the metal frames burst apart and a gigantic vortex appears in the hidden area, towering from ground to sky, blindingly bright. A flying saucer emerges, and zooms off into the distance.
The government agents mount up and ride off after the saucer, shooting at it with sniper rifles. Jack stays and makes sure West Dickens is still alive.
Next Mission: Find a way into Fort Mercer
Search one of the government agents for a scrap that will complete part of the Government Agent outfit; you must do this to complete the mission. Afterward Dickens says he must go back to Armadillo to gather some items of necessity, and that he will meet you at Fort Mercer when he is ready.
‘What was that thing?’
‘Surely my boy, you don’t believe they came all the way across the vast reaches of space without some form of transportation? You are as witless as your old man.’

If you have not done so already, you can now complete the rest of the outfit challenges. Once you do, a blue ‘W’ will appear on the map near fort Mercer for the next story mission.

Stranger Mission: A pale-faced and strangely distant-looking woman is sitting alone in the plainview camp. Jack approaches her.
‘Hullo Miss. You need any help?’
The woman does not answer. Jack repeats himself, and waves a hand in front of her face.
‘Okay, hope youre not on anything dangerous.’
Jack turns around, shaking his head, then stops and turns back. The woman has vanished.
Although this part of the stranger mission is finished, it is likely you will encounter the strange woman again.

OK, part 2 sounds way too much like UN, but I would definitely would like this more than UN, not that a genius needs consolation.
Part 3 is Bad Ass, but isn't sidewinder gulch in mexico?
Also, not to be rude but I think you need more variation in side missions, maybe i'll think of a few.
