Detecting Adbots or advertisers
« on: October 30, 2010, 08:29:26 am »
Hey guys and gals. I figured I'd help you stay vigilant against adbots or advertisers who join the site by showing you what to look for in introduction threads. Below is an example of an adbot:

As you can see, there is a link in the persons signature for a product. In almost all cases, the member will only have a few posts, will not form proper sentences, will reply to posts with short comments such as "cool", "wow", "I did not know that" or will just blatantly advertise. As you can see above, this member falls into nearly all of those categories. Also, a lot of the time, the bots will introduce them selves in other peoples threads. This is not always in the introduction threads, usually adbots stay within sections where there is the most traffic. If you see any suspicious behaviour similar to that image above, please report the post and we'll check it out.

Thanks

It could be both. But mostly it's a computer.

I think this is a more realistic representation:

Hello, my Ressgessdmff name. I play game and speak forum. Have you Ugs tried? Ugs good feet for males and females.

Then a thousand links for ugs.... ugh
